Emily Hearn is a 29 year old Georgia-based singer-songwriter.
Because she was raised in the south (Griffin, GA), you’ll hear a slight drawl in her voice, and you’ll notice moments in her songs where she tips her hat to the country music she was raised on. But Hearn is not what you expect when you think of southern music. There’s a calm and a maturity woven into her sound that contrasts the typical lighthearted themes in country music, but she maintains the hospitality and warmth that we all gravitate toward in the classic genre. Listening to her songs you get the feeling that you know her, and she knows you— like an old friend who’s close enough for you to share your secrets with.
Hearn taught herself to play guitar at 16, and when she was 18 years old she began writing songs. While she was attending college at the University Of Georgia, she tested out her music for small audiences at venues in Athens, GA. Not long after she played her first show, her music career took on a life of its own and she was forced to choose between her school career and a life of music. In 2011 Hearn dropped out of college to pursue her dream. She met her husband Michael Harrison (now her co-writer and musical partner) a few months later. The two hit it off and fell in love playing and writing music together. They got married in 2012, and in the seven years since, they have been living in Athens, GA continuing to tour, write together, and release new music.
